Feasibility Studies
We provide expertise in the process of understanding the feasibility of your project at its inception, and identification of any approvals risk that way arise. We can operate as part of your wider technical and commercial team to provide input to feasibility studies and business cases.
Our aim is to enable you to scope out the next steps to get your project on the pathway from a good idea to a viable investment.
Approvals Strategies
We will provide you with a clear understanding of your approvals risk, what an appropriate approvals pathway for your project looks like and what the most appropriate approvals strategy is to achieve project delivery in the long run.
This can vary from the simple to the complex, however we aim to provide you with clarity around the process, and the ability to engage with key stakeholders to confirm the strategy and its outcomes..
Stakeholder Engagement
We provide support with stakeholder engagement, particularly with regulatory stakeholders. This provides greater confidence in the potential outcomes of your project as it goes through the approvals process.
We also have the capacity to undertake community stakeholder engagement. We can provide you with engagement strategies and plans, or work in close collaboration with specialists you may wish to engage as part of your overall team.
Statutory Planning Approvals and Consents
We can also undertake the preparation of primary and secondary approvals to support your project. This can range from Planning Permit Applications, Marine and Coastal Act 2018 consents, and Pipeline Act 2005 license applications.
We can also prepare Planning Scheme Amendments to facilitate projects within the context of the Victorian Planning Provisions and the relevant planning scheme.
With our relationships with partner firms, we also provide expertise across Development License applications under the Environment Protection Act 2017, and workplans under the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Act 1990 and associated regulations.
These relationships also allow us to access expertise in the preparation of Environmental Management Strategies and Environmental Management Plans.
Project Management
We can manage the end-to-end approvals process for your project.
We can act as an in-house Planning and Environmental Lead embedded within your team, and working within your broader project management framework
Alternatively, we can take responsibility for the project management of the approvals process with a stand-alone team, including assisting with the engagement of external technical specialists where required.

Rhys has been involved in the planning and environmental assessment industry for over 35 years in both New Zealand Australia.
This breadth of experience has been applied across a wide range of energy, linear infrastructure and development projects.
This has led to a proactive approach to projects and a focus on collaboration and good team dynamics.
Rhys brings a strategic approach to approvals and environmental assessment at project inception through contributions to project feasibility and business cases, that is then reflected in a viable approvals strategy. Our aim is to work closely with the client to help facilitate project development and minimise approvals risk.
This in turn contributes to project clarity through the approvals phase, and contributes to cost-efficient project delivery and long-term operational performance.
